Buku Hambela
Grown in the highlands of Buku, a district tucked within Ethiopia’s revered Guji Zone, this coffee comes from elevations reaching 2,350 meters above sea level (some of the highest coffee-producing altitudes in the country). The cooler climate and thin air slow the coffee's development, allowing complex sugars and flavor compounds to build with time.
Under the careful eye of producer Esayas Beriso, ripe cherries are selectively harvested and dried on raised African beds. Esayas and his family, who rely on coffee as their livelihood, bring deep intention to every step of the process. In this rugged, mountainous terrain, the day's harvest often travels by horse, navigating steep, uneven paths to reach the drying station.
This natural lot bursts with vibrant fruit character, with a distinct floral earthiness. Raspberry and lemonade up front, grounded by notes of brown sugar, coconut, and hops. Its texture is juicy and rounded, with a sweetness that lingers long after the last sip.
